Study: Triangle traffic not too bad
Traffic congestion in the Triangle isn't as bad as most area drivers make it out to be, a new study says.

Inrix, a Washington, D.C.-based research firm, used cell phone signals and information from GPS-equipped vehicles to determine the traffic congestion rankings for the nation's 100 most-populated metropolitan areas.
The Raleigh-Cary metro area ranks 49th in population, but 51st in terms of congestion, the study says.
Meanwhile, Charlotte ranks 35th in population and 27th in traffic congestion, while the Greensboro-High Point area is 72nd in population and 96th in congestion.
Los Angeles is rated the worst metro area in the U.S. for traffic, followed by New York, Chicago, Washington and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The study also found that 99 of the 100 metro areas experienced less congestion than they had in 2007. The firm cited "turbulent fuel prices and a struggling economy" for decreased traffic.
