Inside the Beltline is the place to be in some circles, but as far as Glenwood Avenue is concerned, drivers say it is the place to avoid. One viewer called Glenwood Avenue inside the beltline the worst road in Wake County.

Another claimed the road has ruined his alignment rumbling over all the ridges and bumps that pop up in the seams of the road. DOT engineers say that's the problem.

Years ago, crews put new pavement over the old concrete road bed. The aging concrete expands and contracts with the weather causing what engineers call "push ups."

Pavement is forced upward at the cracks, causing the bumpy ridges that divide pavement sections. The DOT said it is making decisions now on re-paving projects for 2007, and there is a chance that it could get some funding for repairs to Glenwood Avenue.

Another road that registered on the current Rough Roads tally was Green Level Church Road, running from Apex to the Chatham County line. A viewer told WRAL some potholes could swallow your car or break an axle.

DOT maintenance engineers said they recently took a look at the road. They said there are no promises for the road to get a total fix, but they said it stands a very strong chance of getting funding in the 2007 road maintenance plan.
