PITTSBORO, N.C. — Construction to repair a water main break at Pittsboro’s downtown traffic circle is expected to delay traffic in the area during Tuesday’s evening commute, state transportation officials said.

Traffic along U.S. Highway 15-501 in Pittsboro will also be delayed from 8 p.m. through Wednesday afternoon because of a separate construction project near the Chatham Mills shopping center.

The highway will close in both directions between Park Drive and Lindsey Street from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday so workers can pour concrete and asphalt.

One lane will open Wednesday morning to accommodate rush-hour traffic, and the other lane will reopen Wednesday afternoon.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the closures.
