FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Environmental clean-up crews planned to be on the scene Tuesday where a tractor-trailer crashed the day before on Interstate 95 and leaked fuel.

Troopers said William Manis, 66, from Panama City, Fla., either fell asleep or lost consciousness due to a medical condition and drove off the right side of the road and flipped near mile marker 90 on I-95 north. The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Manis, who was hauling beer for RE Garrison Trucking, was pinned in the truck for nearly 40 minutes. Emergency crews flew him to Duke University Hospital where he was in stable condition, authorities said.

Troopers did not file charges.
