KENLY, N.C. — Residents of Kenly can now use water without boiling it, a Johnston County spokeswoman said Saturday afternoon.

The Town of Kenly shut off water service to the majority of its customers for about six hours Thursday night following a water main break.

Residents were asked to boil water for drinking or consuming (ice makers, brushing teeth, etc.) until bacterial tests could be completed.

The boil water advisory was lifted shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday after tests showed the water meets state and federal standards.
