Toddler drowns in Moore County pond
A 23-month-old child died Thursday after drowning in a small pond near Vass, according to the Aberdeen Times.

Officials were called to a home on Pond Branch Road off Heritage Farm Road around 4 p.m. for a report of a missing child.
Authorities located the child around 6 p.m. in a pond near Pond Brand Road and immediately started CPR and called for an ambulance. The child was transported to First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Officials said the child was declared dead after arriving at the hospital.
The child's body will be send to Raleigh for an autopsy.
Moore County Public Safety, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Southern Pines Police Department, NC Department of Corrections, Moore County EMS, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, NC Forest Service, the Moore County Department of Social Services, NC State Highway Patrol and UNC Aircare all assisted in the incident.
No further information was available. The investigation is ongoing.
