Members of the state House have the day off today as several members are traveling to a conference out of state. Meanwhile, state senators are takign up bills dealing with revenge porn, executions and firearms.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Thursday, July 23. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and elsewhere in state government.

THE HOUSE: Members of the state House will hold a no-vote skeleton session. At least nine members, including House Speaker Tim Moore, are attending the American Legislative Exchange Council conference in California. There are no House committees scheduled.

THE GOVERNOR: Gov. Pat McCrory will attend the National Governors Association Summer Meeting, hosted by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The meeting convenes Thursday and runs through Saturday.

THE SENATE: Members of the Senate will take up bills delaying the adoption of new federal air-quality rules and shifting control of the board that oversees charter schools away from the Department of Public Instruction. IN COMMITTEE: The Senate Judiciary II Committee takes up the omnibus firearms bill passed earlier this year by the House and a measure that would keep the exact combination of drugs used in executions in North Carolina a secret.
