RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Tuesday, June 28. Here's what's going on around state government:

BUDGET: House and Senate leaders reached agreement on $22.34 billion budget Monday night. The budget money report and the budget bill were posted shortly before 10 p.m.

Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger said he expected the state Senate to take the first of two votes on the budget Tuesday. House members are tentatively planning to take budget votes on Thursday and Friday, but they could move those votes up to Wednesday and Thursday if Democrats agree, according to House Speaker Tim Moore.

THE END IS NIGH: Top legislative leaders say they expect the legislative session will end soon, although they differ on the timeline.

Berger, R-Rockingham, said senators would like to wrap up legislative work for the year this week. However, Moore, R-Cleveland, said he believes lawmakers would need to work through the end of next week, after the July 4 holiday, in order to finish their session.

HOUSE FLOOR: The state House is scheduled to convene at 10 a.m. but will not take votes until later in the day. Among other bills, the chamber is scheduled to take up a measure to prohibit sex offenders from certain locations where children congregate.

SENATE FLOOR: The state Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. for a no-vote skeleton session. Berger told colleagues that the chamber would take up the budget and other votes at 4:30 p.m.
