Today@NCCapitol (June 24): House, Senate finishing work on high-profile bills

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Wednesday, June 24. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly and around state government.

THE GOVERNOR: Gov. Pat McCrory will sign a bill granting in-state tuition to veterans who might not otherwise qualify. He will also likely get questions from reporters about his call to remove the Confederate battle flag from state-issued license plates.

THE HOUSE: House members are scheduled at 2 p.m. to debate a bill that would redraw the council districts for city governments in Trinity and Greensboro. The Greensboro measure has been particularly controversial, with many city leaders calling for a referendum before changes are put in place.

THE SENATE: Senators are scheduled to take up bills updating North Carolina's cannabis oil law, ordering the state to divest from companies linked to the Iranian regime and containing provisions related to Sunday hunting.
