Members of the state House have two controversial measures on their Monday night calendar, but it's not clear if they'll take up either. Senators are sill working toward unveiling budget and tax bills.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today @NCCapitol for Monday, June 8. Here's what's going on at the legislature and around state government .

THE SENATE: The Senate lists its official start time at 1:30 p.m., but it's not scheduled to take any votes until 7 p.m. No controversial bills are on the calendar.

Senate leaders have talked about rolling out this week both their budget bill as well as a tax and economic development measure.

THE HOUSE: The state House comes into session at 7 p.m. Both the controversial omnibus gun law as well as the veto override vote for Senate Bill 2, dealing with marriage and magistrates, are on the calendar, but it is possible either or both votes could be delayed. COMMITTEES WE'RE WATCHING: The House Regulatory Reform Committee meets at 3 p.m. The panel is scheduled to take up a Senate bill that would limit when cities could impose design standards and aesthetic controls on new houses.
