RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today @NCCapitol for Tuesday, May 19. Here's what's going on at the General Assembly.
BUDGET: After a few tussles over tax credits Monday night, the House version of the roughly $22 billion state budget plan emerged from the Finance Committee and will be the subject of what could be an all-day Appropriations Committee hearing.
This budget committee hearing comes the day before the bill is expected on the House floor. Based on years past, members will float dozens of amendments to the tax and spending package Tuesday.

THE HOUSE: Members of the state House will hold a pro forma session just before 2 p.m. No votes are expected.
JOINT SESSION: Members of the House and Senate will meet in the state Senate chambers at 2 p.m. to honor the Duke Blue Devils basketball team, which won the NCAA Basketball Tournament this spring. Players from the team and coach Mike Krzyzewski are expected to be on hand. WRAL.com plans to carry this session live online. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.
SENATE SESSION: After the Blue Devils scoot, the Senate will take final votes on an omnibus farm bill and raising fees for the state ports.
ADVOCATES: Economic developers will hold a news conference at 11:15 a.m. to press the case for more incentives to recruit companies to the state. At 1 p.m., Grass Roots North Carolina holds a news conference to press for a omnibus firearms bill that would get rid of the state's pistol permit law. WRAL.com plans to carry both news conferences live. Check the Video Central box on the homepage.
