Lawmakers have a quiet day on tap after a raucous start to the legislative short session.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Good morning and welcome to Today@NCCapitol for Thursday, April 28. Here's what's going on at the legislature:
BUDGET: After getting an overview of Gov. Pat McCrory's budget Wednesday, lawmakers on four budget subcommittees – Transportation, General Government, Health and Human Services and Education – are scheduled to take deeper dives at 8:30 a.m.
HOUSE SESSION: The state House meets at 10 a.m. to take confirmation votes on several gubernatorial appointments, including State Bureau of Investigation director Bob Schurmeier.
SENATE SESSION: The state Senate is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. This chamber will also take votes on gubernatorial nominations and finish work on a trio on noncontroversial finance bills.
