RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Pat McCrory stopped by the General Assembly on Thursday to talk separately with the Republican caucuses in the House and Senate.

According to some in the House caucus, McCrory discussed the state budget, including his preferences for Medicaid reform and his disdain for a sales tax overhaul, as well as to advocate for his proposed $3 bond package for highways and state buildings.

The Senate, meanwhile, sent two bills to McCrory's desk. One repealed a 2014 law, since deemed unconstitutional, regarding the annual Possum Drop in Clay County, while the other would legalize three-wheeled autocycles in North Carolina.

A House committee passed a proposal that would end annual emissions tests on vehicles in 29 of the 48 counties where they are performed, despite the concerns of some lawmakers on the resulting effect on air quality.

Also, hours after defiantly refusing to step down from the State Board of Elections because of questions over his role in an investigation into campaign donations from the video sweepstakes industry, Paul Foley offer his resignation late Wednesday.
