Thursday Wrap: March sadness

NCAAs could mean Nothing Coming Around Anytime soon for North Carolina.

RALEIGH, N.C. — NCAAs could mean Nothing Coming Around Anytime soon for North Carolina.

The NCAA has adopted a nondiscrimination policy for cities that want to host games in its championship tournaments, which could put future "March Madness" basketball tournament games in Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte, baseball games in Cary and other events in the coming years at risk because House Bill 2 prevents North Carolina cities and counties from extending discrimination protections to gay and transgender people.

Meanwhile, some Republican lawmakers are still debating how to put the provisions of House Bill 2 before voters in November as a proposed constitutional amendment, while others just want to move past the debate over the law instead of having it in the news cycle for the next six months.

In other news, lawmakers continued to review Gov. Pat McCrory's proposed 2016-17 budget, a process that is expected to continue into next week.
