DURHAM, N.C. — Two motorists trying to fix their stalled vehicle were critically injured Sunday night when an alleged drunken driver crashed into them, authorities said.

The driver also was hurt.

Durham police said the accident happened about 11:30 p.m. on East Geer Street, near North Miami Boulevard.

Two men were trying to repair their sport-utility vehicle when the second car came up from behind and hit them. The men were taken to Duke Hospital with critical but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the second car, Shavon M. Carlton, also was taken to Duke hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police said Carlton will be charged with driving while licensed revoked and driving while impaired when she is released from the hospital.
