RALEIGH, N.C. — Nearly 8,000 people turned out Saturday morning for the annual Triangle Walk to Cure Diabetes at the Time Warner Cable Pavilion in Raleigh.

Teams of families, schools and corporations combined to raise more than $1 million for Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, an organization that raises money to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

WRAL anchor Debra Morgan, who has been the honorary chairperson of the walk for 16 years, served as the master of ceremonies.
