Third Person Charged in Fayetteville Slaying

Police on Monday charged a third person in a recent slaying at the Grove View Terrace complex.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Monday charged a third person in a recent slaying at the Grove View Terrace complex.

Marlin Demond Smith, 22, of the 800 block of Egypt Road, was charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in the Jan. 13 shooting death of Corey Thompson.

Thompson, 27, was found slain outside Building 75 at Grove View Terrace. Police haven't disclosed what they think the motive was.

Last week, warrants were issued charging William Anthony Lesane Jr., 23, of 835 Schley Drive, with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in the case. Lesane isn't in custody.

Pamela Lynn Wing, 33, of the 200 block of Grove View Terrace, was charged last week with being an accessory after the fact.
