Matilda the Musical opens tonight at DPAC. This Tony Award-winning production tells the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. The show runs through Sunday.

Enjoy some jazz tonight at Beyu Caffe in Durham. The Youth Jazz Jammers kick things off at 7 p.m. This group of musicians, ages 8 to 18 years old, who are encouraged to bring a song they'd like to play or an original ensemble piece. Afterwards, drummer Kobie Watkins heads up the College to Pro Jazz Jam.

The Flash Chorus will perform a tribute to David Bowie starting at 6:30 p.m. at DSI Comedy Theater. Flash Chorus is open to anyone who wants to sing. You don't have to be a professional, just love belting out fun songs. Admission is $8.

N.C. State continues its Tournées Film Festival tonight. The festival aims to bring French culture ot the big screen on campus. All screenings are free and open to the public. Tonight's show is "Two Days, One Night" starting at 6:45 p.m. at the Campus Cinema at the Witherspoon Student Center.

Also tonight, Fuzzy Empanadas kicks off its Make-a-Wish fundraiser at Compass Rose Brewery. A portion of sales tonight will go to the nonprofit. There will be prizes, raffles and new menu items.

The Grammy award winning band Steep Canyon Rangers play tracks from their new album, Radio, at Lincoln Theatre in downtown Raleigh tonight. Tickets are $18.

Cary holds its Winter Wonderland at Bond Park today and Saturday. The event features one-hour sledding sessions. Registration in advance is recommended and the cost is $20 per hour.
