Posted — UpdatedRaleigh Youth Council will kick off its new session with a meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, at Laurel Hills Community Center.
The group focuses on civic engagement, leadership opportunities, community service, recreation and fundraising. Special events include state youth council conferences and the youth legislative assembly.
It's a great way for teens to fill in required volunteer hours for their school and just get involved in helping out around the community.
Meetings take place on the second and fourth Mondays of each month during the school year at Laurel Hills, which is off Edward Mill Road near Crabtree Valley Mall.
Teens must be in high school to participate. It is free to participate though some activities may carry a fee.
