Teen Wanted in Slaying Surrenders

A teenager wanted in connection with a slaying last month surrendered to authorities over the weekend.

CAMERON, N.C. — A teenager wanted in connection with a slaying last month surrendered to authorities over the weekend.

James Allen Hammonds, 17, surrendered to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with murder, felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Moore County deputies located the body of Jonathan Elee Grice, 27, of 305 Baker Road, wrapped in a car cover, behind the residence on May 24. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and the slaying occurred several days before the body was discovered, authorities said.

Jessica Denise White, 24, also of 305 Baker Road, and Albert Devonte Brown, 26, of 240 Brookside Road in Pinehurst, also are charged in the case.
