Teen girl thrown from car in Sampson County wreck
Sheriff's deputies and state troopers responded Monday afternoon to a wreck at Parker Memorial and Honeycutt roads in Sampson County.
Posted — UpdatedTroopers said that Jonathan Blackmon Crumpler, 34, of Erwin, was driving a 2006 Ford Expedition south on Honeycutt Road Monday afternoon when he ran a stop sign at Parker Memorial Road.
Crumpler's SUV hit a car driven by Samantha Eulalia Sabourin, of Clinton, that was going west on Parker Memorial Drive, troopers said. The collision sent the two vehicles spinning off the right side of the road, and they landed in a canal ditch.
Samantha was thrown from her car and landed face down in the water. A witness to the wreck pulled her out of the water, troopers said.
Samantha was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was listed in serious condition Tuesday.
Crumpler was treated for minor injuries at Sampson Regional Hospital in Clinton.
The Sampson County Sheriff's Office said that an Animal Control Officer passing by called in the wreck.
Charges have not yet been filed in the wreck.
