Teen driver escapes train wreck in Garner

A car was hit by a train on Jones Sausage Road between U.S. Highway 70 and East Garner Road Friday night, blocking the road for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene.

GARNER, N.C. — A car was hit by a train on Jones Sausage Road between U.S. Highway 70 and East Garner Road around 11 p.m. Friday, police said.

The 19-year-old driver was able to get out of the car before the wreck, his mother said. No one was injured.

Emergency crews closed Jones Sausage Road, near the ConAgra plant, while the car was removed from the tracks.

Train passengers waited onboard.

No other information was released.
