CLINTON, N.C. — A teen girl has died after a weekend shooting at a home outside Clinton that left her father dead, the Sampson County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Larissa E. Estrada, 13, died Sunday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Authorities are awaiting an autopsy report on Estrada and her father, Edwin L. Estrada, 51, but the initial investigation indicates that Edwin Estrada shot his daughter before killing himself.

On Friday evening, Larissa Estrada's brother went to his father's home, at 77 Hunter Road, to find his sister after she didn't return to the home they shared with their mother. When no one answered the door, the brother forced his way inside and found Edwin Estrada dead from a gunshot wound and his sister slumped over.

He called 911, put Larissa Estrada into his car and began driving her to Sampson Regional Hospital. On the way, he flagged down an ambulance, which transported the girl the rest of the way. She was later transferred to UNC.

Investigators have not released any information about a possible motive for the shooting.
