TAYLORTOWN, N.C. — A town councilor in Taylortown is keeping his seat in Town Hall, despite facing drug charges.

Lonnie Jones III was arrested July 26 after Moore County sheriff's deputies said they found $3,600 worth of marijuana growing in his back yard. He was charged with seven felonies and two misdemeanors.

The town council voted Tuesday to allow Jones to keep his seat. Jones told council members that his legal problems would not interfere with town business.
