Target opening new stores near NCSU, UNC campuses

Target announced Thursday that two new "flexible format" stores will open near North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill in 2017.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Target announced Thursday that two new "flexible format" stores will open near North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill in 2017.

According to the company's website, the Raleigh store, at 2512 Hillsborough St., will open in October. The store will be roughly 23,000 square feet and will include grab-and-go groceries, meal solutions for students, a curated home assortment with apartment and dorm essentials, beauty, select men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, portable technology products, and apparel and accessories from local sports teams.

The Chapel Hill store, located at the corner of Columbia and Franklin streets in the Carolina Square development, will open in July.

The store, a bit smaller than the Raleigh location will be about 21,000 square feet. It will include dorm and apartment essentials, apparel and accessories from the area’s favorite sports teams, grab-and-go grocery items and meal solutions, and a health and beauty assortment.

Both locations will have a pharmacy.
