Now, that I have started my first job I am always looking for ways to stay connected with my friends who have not graduated to the working life quite yet. A great way to do this is by joining them for dinner or drinks after work. The only problem is driving home after work to change.

Even after working for only a week, I have realized two important things: When I get to the house and sit on the couch it is completely impossible to get up again, and second, I must be in bed before 11 or I have no chance of waking up at 7 a.m.

So the only solution to my problem is to not go home, but who wants to stay in stuffy work clothes when you are out and about?

These are some tips that I have used to convert a working day outfit to fun night out attire.

The easiest way to change work attire to social attire is to start simple and then play around with jackets and accessories.

A sleeveless dress is easy to accessorize and change around for either environment. For work, you can wear a bright cardigan over the dress to make it spring fresh while also being appropriate. For a more sophisticated look, you can pair the dress with a fitted blazer.

Shoes are an easy change that can be kept in the car or even in your purse, so at work I would still stay simple with a nude or black two-inch heel or flats.

Now to take this simple dress out and about, you can play with all your favorite spring accessories that are easy to bring along with you.

Ditch the jacket and boring two inch heel and put on your favorite skyscraper heels or knee high boots. Don’t be afraid to wear a colored heel. Colors such as red and yellow are in this spring and can really make your outfit pop.

Just make sure that if you are taking a risk with your shoes, stay simple with your jewelry. Wear simple gold hoops or studs that don’t have a lot of colors that could end up clashing. If you’re going with a simpler heel be sure to spice it up with necklaces, bracelets or earrings for your night out. Accessories such as a light scarf or a cute clutch are also a great way to spice up your outfit.

When deciding on dress or skirt length be sure to keep it appropriate for the office. A trick you can use to wear your shorter dresses or skirts is to pair them with tights or leggings during the day then put them in your purse at night.

Slacks can be a little more difficult to change from day to night but it is not impossible. Try to find a high- wasted pair that you can put with a cute top and a high heel. This will still show off your figure and make you look business chic.

Don’t forget to bring a Tide pen for any office mishaps and you will be ready to go out at 5:05 p.m.
