If you've read Go Ask Mom in the past couple of months, you've probably followed along with the progress at Raleigh's Pullen Park.

There's was the early look back in September of a busy construction site and a nearly empty carousel house, followed by the return of the carousel animals, then plans for the train's return, a gallery of photos from Pullen's past and present, and a piece about the new Pullen Place cafe.

OK .... I admit it. I'm a little excited about this. My six-year-old can't wait to get back on the carousel, scream through the train tunnel and explore the new playground. I can't wait to see my two-year-old, who was just two months old when Pullen closed in December 2009, begin to make her first memories at the park.

Some of us media folks were invited to the park for a final look on Thursday morning before Pullen opens to the public for good at 10 a.m., Saturday. I took the opportunity to shoot some video of the park. Consider it a kind of walking tour to help you get your bearings before your first trip back to Pullen. I even go into one of the new bathrooms.

The grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Read all about Saturday's celebration, including the schedule, parking details and more, in my earlier post. One update, Pullen Place, the park's new cafe, now has its opening weekend menus on its website. The cafe will serve food from its main building and four satellite stations this weekend. Click here to see the menus.

The park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from October to March. It is closed Thanksgiving day, Dec. 23 to Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

The hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily in April and September. They will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from May to August.

And don't forget the Holiday Express, which is Dec. 8 to Dec. 11. The park will be decked out for the holidays with special events and Santa. Click here for details.

So glad to have Pullen back.
