A Wake County teacher who was suspended after inviting a controversial speaker to class will meet with the school board Monday.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A Wake County teacher who was suspended after inviting a controversial speaker to class will meet with the school board Monday.

Students are expected to rally in support of Robert Escamilla after he has his closed-door grievance hearing.

Escamilla was suspended after an invited leader of a Christian organization handed out pamphlets to students that were critical of Islam. Parents complained and school officials said the speaker was &quot;unacceptable.”

Escamilla contended he was not trying to force his Christian beliefs on students.

The teacher was later transferred from Enloe to an alternative high school because of the February incident.
