DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University police issued warrants Wednesday for two people wanted in two armed robberies at Duke Gardens.

Investigators are searching for Denshawn S. Thompson, 20, and Tamisha L. Thompson, 20, who face numerous charges in connection with the robberies. Police could not say whether the suspects are related or where they live.

The first incident happened about 5:30 p.m. July 15 near the Lewis Street access to the gardens. The access is used as a cut-through and not frequently taken by visitors, police said. Two people told police they were robbed by two assailants carrying silver-colored handguns.

The second incident happened July 25, about 1 p.m., in about the same location, near the Lewis Street entrance to Duke Gardens. The victims told police the suspects carried a knife and a handgun.

“These charges are a result of aggressive investigatory work and the assistance of the community, Durham Police and other agencies,” Duke Police Chief John Dailey said in a statement. “We never want these crimes to occur and appreciate the excellent work that has gone into these cases.”

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash for information leading to an arrest, and callers may remain confidential.
