FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police have identified and charged a man in connection with a shooting at a Fayetteville restaurant earlier this month and authorities said the victim of the shooting will also face charges.

Officers responded to Smokey Bones restaurant at 1891 Skibo Road on May 10 and found Algeria Khalyid McNair, 21, of Fayetteville, with gunshot wounds to his face, neck and knee. McNair was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses said McNair was parked in his vehicle when a silver SUV pulled up beside him. Someone got out of the SUV and went to McNair’s car, where the shooting began.

Terekus Derrell Rogers, 34, of the 3500 block of Torbay Drive, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury, robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

McNair, of the 6700 block of Winchester Street, has been charged with trafficking opiates, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for keeping and selling a controlled substance in connection with the incident.

Authorities said they believe a drug deal gone wrong was the motive for the shooting.
