Suspect charged in Durham bank heist

The robbery happened shortly after 9 a.m., when the man entered the bank at 111 N. Corcoran St. and handed the teller a note demanding money.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested a man Thursday afternoon in connection with a robbery at a Sun Trust branch earlier in the day.

The robbery happened shortly after 9 a.m., when the man entered the bank at 111 N. Corcoran St. and handed the teller a note demanding money.

The male implied he had a gun, but no weapon was seen, police said. He fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

Joe Lee Adams, 55, of Durham, was later arrested in the 1300 block of Hudson Avenue, police said, and was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
