SunTrust Bank robbed in Creedmoor

Creedmoor police are investigating an armed bank robbery on Main Street Wednesday afternoon that briefly placed local schools on lockdown.

CREEDMOOR, N.C. — Creedmoor police are investigating an armed bank robbery on Main Street Wednesday afternoon that briefly placed local schools on lockdown.

Two men robbed a SunTrust Bank branch around 12:30 p.m., police said.

One man was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black mask, black shorts and black shoes. He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, police said.

The second robber was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes.

The men were carrying a black and red backpack.

They were last seen walking toward Church Street, where a witness saw the men get into a green, older-model Honda, police said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two robbers. Anyone with information on the robbery should call police at 919-528-1515 or Crime Stoppers at 919-693-3100.
