Sunny skies, cool temperatures will last through weekend
A strong cold front pushed through central North Carolina late Friday bringing sunshine and much cooler air into the area Saturday morning, WRAL meteorologist Nate Johnson said.
Posted — UpdatedWinds will be gusty Saturday morning, Johnson said, and Saturday's highs will struggle to reach the 70s despite abundant sunshine.
On Sunday morning, clear skies will allow low temperatures to dip into the 40s across the bulk of the Triangle. Areas close to the Virginia border could fall into the upper 30s.
"It will be a cool night, but we will not need to worry about frost," Johnson said. "This weekend will give us a true taste of fall."
On Sunday, highs will be in the mid-60s despite sunny skies.
Sunday's cool temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal for early October.
