RALEIGH, N.C. — Sunshine, blue skies and pleasant temperatures greeted Triangle residents Sunday morning, and the weather should cooperate for the remainder of Labor Day weekend.
WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said that although winds can remain gusty, dry and sunny weather will mark the unofficial end of summer on Monday.
The Durham Bulls will also wrap up their last home game of the regular season on Labor Day. The temperature is expected to be about 84 degrees when the first pitch is thrown out.
"It'll be gorgeous weather if you're headed to that," Wilmoth said.

Post-Tropical Cyclone Hermine pulled out of central and eastern North Carolina Saturday, pushing the storm toward the northeast and leaving little impact on the Triangle area.

Now that Hermine is offshore, even people traveling to the coast should be able to get some time in the sun this weekend, but meteorologists caution beach-goers that rough surf, large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents remain possible into Sunday evening.

Some areas along the state's coast are still recovering from Hermine's path Sunday after strong winds and rain closed all bridges to the Outer Banks for several hours on Saturday following a deadly accident over the intracoastal waterway.

Temperautres on Sunday peaked in the mid-80s and Labor Day will be even warmer with highs approaching 90 degrees, clear skies and almost no chance for precipitation, leaving much promise for holiday cookouts.

The trend seen on Sunday and Monday will continue into late next week, with party cloudy to clear skies and temperatures remaining mild in the 80s and low-90s.
