Sunny skies, warm weather mark unofficial end of summer
Sunshine, blue skies and pleasant temperatures greeted Triangle residents Sunday morning, and the weather should cooperate for the remainder of Labor Day weekend.
Posted — UpdatedPost-Tropical Cyclone Hermine pulled out of central and eastern North Carolina Saturday, pushing the storm toward the northeast and leaving little impact on the Triangle area.
Now that Hermine is offshore, even people traveling to the coast should be able to get some time in the sun this weekend, but meteorologists caution beach-goers that rough surf, large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents remain possible into Sunday evening.
Temperautres on Sunday peaked in the mid-80s and Labor Day will be even warmer with highs approaching 90 degrees, clear skies and almost no chance for precipitation, leaving much promise for holiday cookouts.
The trend seen on Sunday and Monday will continue into late next week, with party cloudy to clear skies and temperatures remaining mild in the 80s and low-90s.
