BETHEL, N.C. — A school bus driver in Pitt County has been charged in connection with a crash that sent three high school students to a local hospital Thursday afternoon.

WITN News in Washington reported that Margie Perkins, 66, of Bethel, was charged with a safe movement violation after she allegedly pulled in front of a car, wedging it beneath the bus, outside North Pitt High School.

The car's passengers were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where they were being treated Thursday afternoon.

Their medical conditions weren't known.

Several students on the bus were also hurt, WITN reported, although it was unclear how many or to what extent they were injured.
