Teen charged in school bus hit-and-run near Middle Creek High School

An Apex teen was charged Thursday after authorities say he hit a school bus near Middle Creek High School in Cary and left the scene.

CARY, N.C. — An Apex teen was charged Thursday after authorities say he hit a school bus near Middle Creek High School in Cary and left the scene. 

The school bus driver and two students suffered minor injuries Thursday afternoon when the teen struck the bus with a gray Honda at about 2:30 p.m., police said.

The teen was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run, careless and reckless driving and a passenger restriction violation, according to a Wake County arrest report.

The teen was released on $1,000 bond.

The bus was carrying about 20 students at the time of the wreck. The driver and two students were taken to WakeMed Cary as a precaution. 

Damage to the bus was minor, Cary police said.
