NASHVILLE, N.C. — A gun was brought on to the campus of a middle school in Nash County on Thursday.

School leaders said the student did not show the gun to anyone or threaten anyone with it at Nash Central Middle School in Nashville.

The student was removed from class and the gun was secured, school leaders said. It was not known how school administrators were informed about the gun being on campus.

"This matter was resolved in a safe and effective manner without incidence," a spokesperson for Nash County Public Schools said in a statement.

The spokesperson said Thursday's incident was the first of a gun at Nash Central Middle School this year.
