Weekend best bets: Egg hunts, festivals and more spring fun

There are lots of egg hunts and spring activities coming up this weekend.

Easter fun

March 22: Adult 70's Eggstravaganza - This adult egg hunt at John Chavis Memorial Park and Community Center will feature games, music and photo ops. It will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Food trucks and alcohol (no hard liquor) will be available for purchase. Please note, the egg hunt is for the first 100 people registered. The hunt starts at 8:15pm and participants must check in by 8 p.m. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

March 23: Carrboro Community Egg Hunt - This egg hunt is happening at Hank Anderson Community Park from noon to 2 p.m.

March 23: EGG-STREME Egg Hunt - Gather your friends, bring a flashlight, and search Chapel Hill Community Center in the dark for eggs and prizes from 8 to 9 p.m. This event is for ages 6 to 13. It costs $15 (residents) and $18 (non-residents).

March 23: Hippity Hoppity Easter Egg Hunt at USA Baseball National Training Complex - Registration is required and each child must register. Please bring your own basket for the Easter eggs. Gates open at 9:15 a.m. for check-in, where you'll receive your wristband to participate. Enjoy a magician, juggler, an LED hoop artist, snap a photo with the Easter Bunny and more before the egg hunt begins.

March 23: Garner Spring Eggstravaganza - Enjoy games, kids’ crafts, music, food trucks, and more at this free family event from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lake Benson Park.

March 23: Fuquay-Varina Easter Egg Hunt - This egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. at Fleming Loop Park and is for ages 10 years and younger.

March 23: Wake Forest Easter Egg Hunt - Over 15,000 eggs will be hidden at this year’s Easter Egg Hunt at Joyner Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The egg hunt will feature a pre-party with music, fun and games.

March 23: Zebulon Easter Egg Hunt - This egg hunt is at Zebulon Community Park from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is free for children 12 and under.

March 23: Clayton Easter Egg Hunt - For preschoolers, ages 6 and under at Clayton Community Park. More than 10,000 eggs will be placed on our baseball fields for children to find as fast as they can.

March 23: Egg hunt at Campus Hills Park - Egg hunt starts promptly at 10:15 a.m. at 2000 S. Alston Ave. in Durham.

March 22: The Great Eggstravaganza - Hop on over to Brier Creek Community Center to experience The Great Eggstravaganza featuring arts, crafts, games and snacks for the whole family from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

March 23: Egg hunt at Kiwanis Community Center - For kids 12 and under, this egg hunt is free to attend and starts at 10 a.m.

March 23-24: Jessie Jellybean's Spring Jamboree and Digital Egg Hunt at Pullen - Jessie Jellybean's Spring Jamboree is a family-friendly event designed to bring joy, laughter and interactive fun to all participants. It is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10.

March 24: Mordecai Egg Hunt - This egg hunt will be from 1 to 4 p.m.. at Mordecai Historic Park. It is for age groups 0-4, 5-9, and 10 years and over. Hunts will start at 2 p.m. Note: This event was moved from March 23 to March 24 due to threat of inclement weather.

March 23: Rolesville Egg Rush - Egg hunts are scheduled at the Rolesville Middle School football field starting at 10 a.m. for children ages 10 years and younger.

March 23: Apex Bunny Trail Egg Hunt - Grab your family and get ready to hit the trail for a free egg hunt at Seagroves Farm Park. Registration is required. There are four time slots to choose from from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

March 23: Parkside Town Commons Easter Egg Hunt - Children 10 and under can hunt from over 20,000 Easter Eggs at this event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Music, Theatre and Festivals

March 19-24: Mrs. Doubtfire at DPAC - Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed to DPAC in an internationally acclaimed new hit musical.

March 22: K-Pop Dance Party - This celebration of K-Pop music will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Kerr Scott Building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Ages 6 years and younger are admitted for free and those ages 7 and up are admitted for $15.

March 23: Koreafest - This celebration of Korean culture will take place at the N.C. State Fairgrounds' Kerr Scott Building starting at 10:30 a.m.

March 22-23: NC Symphony: Stravinsky Rite of Spring - Celebrate spring with this event.

March 23: Halifax Storytelling Festival - This event at the Halifax County Agriculture Center features local, regional and nationally known storytellers, community resources, crafts and food vendors.

March 24: Triangle SpringFest - Celebrate spring in Moore Square with a family fun zone, DJ, free face painting, food trucks, vendors, shopping, food and more.

March 21-24: Theatre Raleigh In Concert: The Music of Sam Cooke - Theatre Raleigh hosts a concert series featuring Tony Award winners, Broadway stars and local performers. The next show is The Music of Sam Cooke from March 21-24. Twist the night away with the stories and music of the King of Soul, Sam Cooke. Tickets are $45.

March 23: Farmers Spring Festival - This farmers market will include more than 130 local makers’ booths and a variety of food trucks and local brewers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Downtown Cary Park.

March 23: Tar Heel Troubadours: Blue Cactus - Blue Cactus, the North Carolina duo of Steph Stewart and Mario Arnez, make dream country: a blend of grit, glitz, groove, and twang that evokes a celestial soundscape of mid-century heartbreak and harkens comparisons eclectic and iconic as Bobbie Gentry, Fleetwood Mac, and David Bowie. See them on stage at the North Carolina Museum of History.

March 24: Superbloom! A Vibrant Comedy Show - Rhizome Comedy presents Superbloom, a new monthly comedy show at The Pour House. March headliners include Sara Huntington and Brittany Cardwell.

Food, beer and more fun

March 22: Family Night Out at the Museum of Life and Science - Celebrate the upcoming eclipse with an event that promises an immersive and family-friendly atmosphere where science and spectacle collide. Learn about the magic of a solar eclipse in the awe-inspiring StarLab and how the day and night cycle impacts the program animals. Tickets are $25 to $30 per child participating and $10-$15 per accompanying adult.

March 23: Girl Scout Cookie & Wine Pairing - Bottles & Cans Beer and Wine Shop in Morrisville will host this tasting including Girl Scout cookies paired with the perfect wine.

March 23: Raleigh Roasts - Explore the rich offerings of Raleigh's coffee roasters in Moore Square!

March 23: Marchtoberfest - Celebrate 8 years at the Clouds Brewing Taproom in Midtown Raleigh. Tickets are $12 and include a commemorative glass and one beer. There will be traditional German music, stein holding contests and more!

March 23: Triangle Heart Ball - Support the American Heart Association with this event at the Raleigh Convention Center.

March 23: Cars and Carnivores - This free street festival presented by Wake Forest Rotary Club will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Wake Forest. The day includes a steak cookoff competition, classic/modern car show, food and vendor booths.

March 23: 5K Beer Run - The fun starts at Mordecai Beverage Co. in Raleigh at 11 a.m.

March 23: Triangle LUNGe Forward 5K Run - Create hope and bring awareness to lung cancer and raise critical funds for lung cancer research and education at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.

March 23: NC State College of Veterinary Medicine Open House - This event invites the community to explore our College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Hospital to learn more about veterinary research, training and medical care.

March 23: Handcrafted DURM Spring Market - This free to attend handcrafted maker's market will return to Durty Bull Brewing Company on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Weizzie's Country Kitchen food truck will be back out at the brewery. Live music starts at 4 p.m.

March 24: Chapel Hill-Carrboro CROP Hunger Walk - This local community fundraiser tackles food security in our area.

March 24: 3rd Annual Easter Keg Hunt - Teams will go on a photo and item scavenger hunt around downtown with all locations within walking distance of the Flying Saucer and most within a 5-block radius. The top four teams will all receive prizes including a grand prize of a VIP Experience for the top team at Sierra Nevada’s Mills River location. Team registration begins at noon.

March 24: Mythical Menagerie: An Enchanted Circus Show - Performances include pole dance, burlesque, drag, belly dance, acrobatics, contortion, trapeze, hooping, juggling, LED spinning, and more at Motorco on Sunday night from 6 to 10 p.m.
