State Fair Taste Test: Cluck Puppies
Chick-N-Que is best known for its chopped chicken barbecue, and for this year's North Carolina State Fair, it has found a new way to serve it.
The new concoction is called Cluck Puppies. The dish consists of chopped chicken barbecue inside of Chick-N-Que's signature cheddar cheese hush puppies. Once combined, it is then fried to a golden brown and served with coleslaw along with dipping sauces.
When biting into one of the Cluck Puppies, the first thing you notice is the crispy and crunchy outside.
On the inside, the hush puppy is completely filled with meat. And, the chopped chicken barbecue is well seasoned in what seems to be a traditional eastern North Carolina barbecue style. With accents of vinegar and a small amount of spice, the meat pairs well with the slight cheddar taste of the hush puppy.
Cluck Puppies are perfect for the Chick-N-Que fans who would like to have the chopped chicken barbecue in bite-sized morsels.
Chick-N-Que also offers its signature chicken barbecue on sandwiches and on top of seasoned fries with melted cheddar.
