School bus crashes on I-40 in Raleigh, no students on board
A school bus crashed Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 West in Raleigh.
No students were on board when the Wake County bus crashed around 6 a.m. near Exit 299 for Person Street and Hammond Road, according to police.
According to Raleigh police, a car hit the bus while it was merging.
One lane was temporarily blocked, but the crash cleared before 8 a.m.
At least three other school buses have crashed in the last week.
On Thursday, a bus bumped another bus from behind at Panther Creek High School in Cary. One student was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
On Friday, a Nissan Altima hit a bus in Johnston County on Webb Mill Road. The bus veered off the road, hit a ditch and ended up in someone's yard. There were 13 kids on the bus, and eight had minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan was charged.
On Monday, a school bus with 24 kids on board crashed in Johnston County on Stevens Chapel Road. Two students were taken to a hospital with femur fractures and cuts to the face. Seven other students were taken to a hospital in Smithfield.
