Police, FBI search Fayetteville home linked to missing people

Investigators have entered a new stage in the search for two people who were reported missing years ago in Fayetteville.

FBI agents and Fayetteville police spent Monday searching a home on Berriedale Drive where police said Blake and London Deven lived as children before recently being reported missing.

Blake Deven, who would be 17, was recently reported missing after not being seen for years. Two days later, Fayetteville police said London Deven, who is related to Blake, was also reported missing. Authorities have not said how the two are related.

London Deven, now 27, was last seen in 2019 in Fayetteville. Investigators released a photo of London from around 2007 when she was about 12 years old.

The last known photo of Blake was taken around 2012, when he was in elementary school. Fayetteville police in March provided an age-processed photo of what he may look like now.

WRAL News was told both adoptive children were being taken care of by foster parents at the time of their disappearance.

The FBI executed a search warrant on Monday to search the home along with Fayetteville police and forensics teams.

The search warrant was sealed, but sources close to the investigation told WRAL News authorities were looking for evidence in the home that may explain the disappearance of the two children.

Law enforcement began searching the home at 8 a.m. on Monday and were also at the home over the weekend. The investigation appeared to focus on the garage and interior of the home, and some investigators were wearing hazmat suits.

Families who live in the neighborhood were shocked by the large police presence but even more alarmed by the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the two people.

"The foster family might have something to do with the disappearance of the kid ... it just seems like covering up if you don't report it for years," said Terry Murphy. "I mean, a kid goes missing and you don't report it, that doesn't sound right."

"It's scary," said Marilyn Sargebt, another neighbor. "I called my husband and said this is scary. I've only been here six or seven years."

The home belonged to the Deven family years earlier, police said, and a family currently living in the home is not related to the search but is cooperating with the investigation.

On Thursday, the FBI added a poster of Blake to the FBI's missing persons website. The poster will also be released on the FBI's social media accounts to reach a wider audience. Detectives and special agents are following leads and have conducted interviews to gather information about Blake's whereabouts.
