20-year-old woman hit by SUV, killed in Fayetteville

A woman died after she was hit by a car Sunday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a pedestrian crash at the intersection of Murchison Road and Country Club Drive.

Tanaja Blackston, 20, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she died.

According to investigators, Blackston was crossing Murchison Road when she was struck by a 2020 Mitsubishi SUV. Blackston was wearing dark clothing and did not use a guarded intersection, police said.

It was unclear if the driver, a 37-year-old woman, will face charges.
