Cooler air, sunshine return to Triangle for Mother's Day
Cool, dry air filtered into the Triangle early Sunday as a cold front that spawned showers and storms Saturday evening made its way off the North Carolina coast.
Posted — UpdatedSunshine replaced clouds throughout the morning, and highs were in the upper 60s to low 70s around lunchtime.
"On Tuesday night, some spots could dip into the upper 30s," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.
If temperatures dip that low, it's likely that Raleigh-Durham International Airport will see a record for May 14. On 1997, temperatures bottomed out at 43 degrees.
After the brief cool snap, temperatures will climb into the 80s for the second half of the work week. Thursday's highs could push toward 90 degrees in spots.
