Rain lightens, sticks around through midweek
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of the Triangle through Tuesday morning as steady rain fell for a second straight day.
Posted — UpdatedWRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said that rainy conditions will improve in the Triangle during the evening and overnight hours Monday, as steady rain turns into a drizzle while southern counties will see heavier rain throughout the night.
Residents can expect another messy commute Tuesday morning as rainy conditions and fog linger.
"The bottom line is you need your rain gear again tomorrow when you head out," said Maze.
Temperatures on Tuesday will rise into the mid 50s to low 60s and some southern areas could see the potential for thunderstorms.
Wednesday will be warmer, with temperatures approaching 70 degrees, but Maze said that the forecast shows a high probability for at least some rainfall throughout the day. The chance for wet weather will remain in the forecast through Thursday, said Maze.
"If your favorite color is gray, this kind of weather is for you," said Maze.
Sunny weather is expected to return Friday, when temperatures could approach 80 degrees, but rain reemerges in the forecast on Saturday when an approaching cold front brings the threat of Thunderstorms.
