The Stay and Play Snack Cafe is getting very close to opening its doors.

The official grand opening for the cafe, which will cater to young children and their adults, is slated for Jan. 19. You'll be able to find it at 405A E. Chapel Hill St., in downtown Durham, next door to Rue Cler.

Owner and founder Emily McCall, a mom of two in Durham, raised money to outfit the business through a Kickstarter.com campaign this summer. She is working to open a spot that includes lots of toys and activities to keep young children busy, along with comfy seating for parents. The cafe will charge a small admission fee for the kids.

Read much more about the cafe and concept, which is popular at other spots around the country, in the box above.

Construction is underway and all the toys are ordered, she tells me. She may actually be able to open for a soft opening a bit earlier, depending on how things go. She's also working with local groups to provide enrichment classes at the cafe.

"Things are getting really busy over here!" she tells me.

Can't wait to see the finished product!
