State to Honor Officers Who Died in Line of Duty

North Carolina will pay tribute Friday to law officers who died in the line of duty.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — North Carolina will pay tribute Friday to law officers who died in the line of duty.

The 2007 North Carolina Peace Officers Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in Wilmington.

The memorial is sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Justice. The service begins at 11 a.m.

The year's ceremony will recognize several officers who died since last year's observance, including Durham police officer Charles Callemyn and Hope Mills officer Heath Hardin.
