Staph Infection Fears Prompt Wipe Down of Duplin School
Officials at James Kenan High School are taking precautions to head off a possible spread of staph infection.
Posted — UpdatedTwo students and one teacher at Kenan High have been tested for staph, but officials aren't waiting for the test results to take action.
The school's restrooms, locker rooms and workout areas are being wiped down to eliminate any staph germs. School officials also are sending notes home with students that stress hand washing and other hygiene measures to prevent infections from forming and spreading.
Drug-resistant staph has been linked to infections in six East Forsyth High School football players, and a Virginia high school student died this week after being infected with the virulent germ.
