Celebrations in the clear, but chilly new year on the way
Revelers will get to celebrate in dry, decently cool weather Monday evening, but after the clock strikes midnight, a chilly new year will roll in.
Posted — Updated"Good news for folks headed out to celebrate New Year's Eve: The weather should be fine," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said. "It's going to be dry. Temperatures aren't going to be that bad. They'll be in the 40s."
"Monday will likely be the warmest day in the next seven days," Wilmoth said. "It is going to be a chilly start the new year."
Tuesday will see a high around 49 degrees, and the daily highs will stay in the 40s until Saturday, when they creep back up to around a seasonable 50 degrees.
Tuesday will also see a good shot of rain, starting in the afternoon. By the evening, rain chances will rise up to 70 percent in the Triangle.
Another cold front will come through later in the week, but rain on Thursday and Friday will stay mostly to the south.
