Spring Lake finds new police chief at FSU
Charles Kimble, the chief of police for Fayetteville State University, has been named as Spring Lake's next police chief, town officials said Friday.

Kimble will start on the job on Jan. 3, succeeding Chief Troy McDuffie, who is retiring after seven years in charge of the Spring Lake Police Department.
"We are delighted to welcome Chief Kimble," Mayor Chris Rey said in a statement. "Chief McDuffie worked tirelessly to rebuild our police department and establish us as one of the best in the state. We are confident that Chief Kimble will continue the work he started and work hard to make us even better."
Kimble has worked in law enforcement for more than 25 years, much of it at the Fayetteville Police Department, where he rose through the ranks to become assistant police chief before moving to Fayetteville State.
"He is well versed in community policing and comes to us with a diverse background that includes local ties," Spring Lake Town Manager Tad Davis said in a statement. "As a veteran, he understands our community’s unique make-up. Having worked in the area, he knows the landscape and is ready to hit the ground running."
