NC State vs. North Carolina for the ACC championship. This is such a fitting title game in such an unpredictable year in ACC basketball. It'll be the 6th time that the Wolfpack and Tar Heels meet for the league's tournament title.

1959--NC State 80 North Carolina 56

1968--North Carolina 87 NC State 50

1975--North Carolina 70 NC State 66

1987--NC State 68 North Carolina 67

1997--North Carolina 64 NC State 54

NC State will make its 3rd trip to the title game in the last 6 years but they haven't cut the nets since 1987 in Landover, Maryland. The 83 title happened in Atlanta, Georgia. North Carolina hasn't celebrated an ACC tournament title since 1998 when the Heels slaughtered Duke 83-68. There are many who feel Sunday's game will be that lopsided but I don't know. Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe was asked to compare this year's run in the ACC tournament to the one he was a part of as a player in 1983. He quickly pointed out the 83 team had 3 senior starters with plenty of experience....this year's team lacks in experience but Lowe added, if this year's team wins the title, it would FAR exceed the accomplishment in 1983. Regardless of the outcome, it has been an impactful debut for Lowe as a coach in the ACC tournament.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams is also looking for his first ACC tournament title as a head coach. The Heels are playing like a team on a mission to cut the nets here in Tampa. They just destroyed Boston College but Coach Williams had to get on the fellas a bit during the game. Leading 50-32 in the 2nd half, Williams ripped his team during a time out. "I don't care what the score is. Every possession you gotta play!!" For the Heels and Wolfpack, it's one to go for the ACC championship.

Wolfpack guard Engin Atsur felt his hamstring tighten in the Va. Tech win. He said it started to get tight during the 2nd half of the Duke game but he's been able to play through it. After the game he immediately plastered a bag of ice on the injured hammy. He'll be a go tomorrow but it'll be one of his biggest challenges to control tempo against the running Heels. Oh Daddy, I can't wait !!!!
